Mandatory SII Portal Registration & E-Student Visa
Study in India (SII) portal (www.studyinindia.gov.in) is now fully functional for foreign students to apply for admissions to Indian institutions. Starting in the 2025-26 academic year, all foreign students must register on the SII portal www.studyinindia.gov.in/admission/registrations to obtain a Unique ID for their student visa applications, as no student visa will be issued without this registration. The Ministry of Home Affairs has introduced an e-Student visa facility to foreign students who are eligible for S-1 and S-3 student visas, as well as registered on the SII portal. Additionally, an e-student X visa is applicable for dependents accompanying them.
