The Davao Medical School Foundation, Inc. (DMSFI) was established in July 1976 in response to the recognition of the lack of doctors serving rural communities and lack of specialists in urban centers of Mindanao. Its College of Medicine was thus the first such college to be set up in Mindanao and is dedicated to providing medical education and training of the highest order, leading to the provision of effective medical care in both rural and urban communities.
It is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit organization and is approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). In addition to the College of Medicine, DMSF operates a College of Dentistry, an Institute of Primary Health Care (IPHC), and a Center for Education, Research, and Development in Health (CERDH).
The school is located on a 2.5 hectare site close to the center of Davao City,

MBBS in Philippines Review
There are many advantages of studying MBBS in the Philippines:
National Exit Test (NEXT)
Before we know about MBBS abroad, we must know about FMGE and NEXT.
Earlier, the students who used to study MBBS from abroad were required to give a licensing exam whereas the students studying in India were not required to sit for any such exam. This licensing exam for foreign medical graduates was called the FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination). It was also known as the MCI Screening Test. Only students who have studied from the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada were exempted.
FMGE Information Bulletin
students who take admission in 2020 –
In 2019, the FMGE was replaced by the National Exit Test. NEXT will be a common licensing exam for students who study abroad and also in India.
Indian students who study in India will also have to give licensing exam now. The same exam will be given by the Indian students who do their MBBS from abroad. The NEXT exam is expected to start in 2022. Even if there is a 1-2 year delay, those who are taking MBBS admission from 2020 onwards in India or abroad will be appearing for NEXT in the future.
NEXT will also replace NEET-PG
This means that you will get a license and a chance to get a PG seat in India on the basis of your performance in the NEXT exam.
Post-Graduation in the USA after MBBS in the Philippines
After completing MBBS in the Philippines, the student is eligible to do his/her post-graduation from the USA. Since the medical universities in the Philippines follow the US pattern, students find it easier to crack the USMLE exam which is the test that the student has to qualify (Step 1 and 2) while studying MBBS in the Philippines. After successfully passing USMLE Step 2, the student may have the opportunity to go for his higher studies in the US. After clearing USMLE Step-3, the student has the opportunity to practice in the USA.
